Our first delivery of wood by boat.

Our next wood delivery by horse.

Tearing down the old wood walls and roof of the kitchen.

The frames for the windows and walls are starting to go in.

The kitchen is looking much better!

One half of the house was a wood floor put over a large dirt hole. When it rained
water washed into the hole under the wood floor and attracted termites, mosquitos, etc.
We had our contractor take out the wood floor, fill the hole in and create a concrete floor.
The wood planks on the floor
were reused for other construction projects for the lodge.

We had our stream dredged several months prior to the construction. The workers
had to shovel the gravel from the stream onto a screen to sift out the sand and use
it to mix with the concrete needed for the floor. What a back breaking job!

Putting in the concrete floor.

The previous owner created double walls - in other words, there was a wall on the
outside and a separate wall on the inside. Our contractor told us - no double walls!
They attract critters that like to nest in the cozy spaces between the two walls.
Above is a picture of the outside wall after it was removed.

The lodge had unattractive plastic green screen which the katydids liked to eat
holes in. We replaced all the screens with rust-free aluminum screens.

There was a back porch that we enclosed to make our living room larger.
Our new living room wall just went up (on right).

Finishing up the details of the roof.

The texture and grain on the wood for the walls is beautiful.

The window frames are now being built.

Minor is working on the window frames.

We added a bathroom to the lodge. This is the sewage
line
that was dug for the bathroom.

Here is the frame going up for the rancho.

Putting in the wood floor of the rancho.

Beto is adding the finishing touches.
