Best Practices for Sabalo’s Wildlife and Environment

Never intentionally disturb the local wildlife.

Refrain from taking anything from the forest such as flora and fauna.

Always stay on designated roads, trails and paths.

Do not hike into the forests without a guide.

Do not feed animals; not even fruits of foods they would normally eat.

Be respectful of the environment and mindful of actions that might be harmful.

When hiking in remote areas minimize noise pollution.

Never leave litter or trash behind at the places you visit.

Take only pictures leave only footprints.

When hiking in groups of five or more stagger yourselves across the trail to minimize impact.

Respect private property lines; do not cross fenced areas.

Help keep streams and other water sources pristine; avoid introducing foreign material.

Always let someone know where you are going and when you plan to return.

Consult our vast collection of field guides and reference books in our library before and after your hikes to become more familiar with the native plants, trees and wildlife.
